Centre Pompidou

The World of Contemporary Art

Located in historical part of Paris, The Center of Contemporary Art George Pompidou (commonly known as the Pompidou Centre or Beaubourg) was officially opened in 1977 to support the Contemporary Art in all its forms - painting, sculpture, photography, music, dance, etc. Center of Contemporary Art is housed in a wonderful building. The authors of this futuristic project are Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. The original idea of the architects was to withdraw all technical structures of the building and to make them visible. All these structures are painted in bright colors: reinforcements are painted white, ventilation pipes are in blue, the water pipes are green, electrical fixture and wires are painted yellow, and the escalators and elevators are in red.

Thousands of visitors come every day to the halls of Beaubourg to see works by painters and sculptors of different avant-garde currents of the 20th century: Fauves, Cubists, Expressionists, Dadaists and Surrealists. Here you can get acquainted with the work of our contemporaries.
